One must remember nature to remember self. The journey begins. Food Leads unites food access and nutrition education to empower our community to manage and prevent type 2 diabetes with dignity and confidence. We focus primarily on supporting the Black community, which is disproportionately impacted by diabetes and other chronic conditions - an inequity that our founder has experienced firsthand and that inspired the organization’s founding. We offer a free meal kit program featuring fresh produce from local farms and high-quality ingredients to prepare diabetic-friendly, heart-healthy meals, as well as our Nourish Education Program, a hands-on cooking and nutrition class series. Both are rooted in the belief that support and education must be practical and culturally relevant to truly be useful, so we emphasize programming designed with our community’s realities and culture at the forefront.
